Polylogarithm
Builds on Power series in the complex planeAnalytic continuation
Definition
Let be a complex number. For with , the polylogarithm of order is the power series together with its analytic continuation in to .
Remarks
The series has radius of convergence for every , because .
Example: for the series is , and for and it gives and . For the series also converges at , and , the Riemann zeta function.
Non-example of a valid argument: for the series diverges at (it is the harmonic series), and has a singularity there.
Termwise differentiation gives , so . For this is the dilogarithm.
