Builds on Vector space
Definition
Let be a field and let and be vector spaces over . The product is the set of pairs with and , with the operations for , and . It is a vector space over with zero vector .
Remarks
For finitely many spaces, the product is also the external direct sum, written . The dimension of a direct product is . For example, is isomorphic to . The projections and are linear maps.
