Pure weights

Definition

Let EE be a quadratic field that is real. Let S∞S_\infty be the set of its infinite places, that is, its embeddings into the real numbers. Let GEG_E be the group GL3\mathrm{GL}_3 over EE, and let μ\mu be a highest weight for GEG_E.

Such a weight is a family μ=(μτ)τ∈S∞\mu=(\mu_\tau)_{\tau \in S_\infty}. Each μτ=(mτ+,mτ−,vτ)\mu_\tau=(m^+_\tau,m^-_\tau,v_\tau) is a dominant weight of the diagonal torus of GL3\mathrm{GL}_3.

The weight μ\mu is called pure when both clauses hold:

  1. The entry vτv_\tau is the same for every τ∈S∞\tau \in S_\infty.
  2. The equality mτ+=mτ−m^+_\tau=m^-_\tau holds for every τ∈S∞\tau \in S_\infty.

The pure weights are the highest weights for GEG_E that satisfy both clauses.

What this page needs for W2

  • edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
  • edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
