Definition
Let be a measure space and let be a quasi-measure-preserving map: is measurable and for every with . The map is quasi-ergodic if every with satisfies or .
Remarks
Here is the symmetric difference, so the condition says that is invariant up to a null set. If preserves and is a probability measure, quasi-ergodicity is the same as being an ergodic transformation. Example: let be a probability measure on with a strictly positive density with respect to Lebesgue measure , and let with irrational. The measures and have the same null sets, and preserves , so is quasi-measure-preserving for . An almost invariant set for is almost invariant for , so it has -measure or by ergodicity of the rotation, hence -measure or . Non-example: the identity map of with Lebesgue measure is quasi-measure-preserving, but is invariant with . In older physics texts the "quasi-ergodic hypothesis" means something else: that a trajectory comes arbitrarily close to every point of its energy surface.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
