Definition
Let be a separable Hilbert space. A sequence in is a Riesz sequence if there are constants such that for every finite sequence of scalars , A Riesz basis of is a Riesz sequence whose closed linear span is .
Remarks
Equivalently, is a Riesz basis if and only if for an orthonormal basis of and a bounded linear operator with a bounded inverse. Then every has a unique expansion , the series converges unconditionally, and . The best constants are and .
Example: let be an orthonormal basis of and . Then with , where is the shift , of norm . Since , the Neumann series shows that is invertible with bounded inverse, so is a Riesz basis.
Non-example: . Its closed span is and the upper bound holds with . The lower bound fails: for with the in place , the middle term is , which is not bounded below by a positive .

- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
