Definition

Let n≥1n \ge 1 and let X⊆ℝnX \subseteq \R^n. The set XX is subanalytic if each point a∈ℝna \in \R^n has an open neighbourhood UU with the following property. There are an integer m≥0m \ge 0 and a bounded semianalytic set A⊆ℝn+mA \subseteq \R^{n+m} such that X∩U=π(A)X \cap U = \pi(A). Here π ⁣:ℝn+m→ℝn\pi \colon \R^{n+m} \to \R^n is the projection onto the first nn coordinates.

Remarks

Every semianalytic set X⊆ℝnX \subseteq \R^n is subanalytic. Indeed, for a point aa take an open ball UU around aa, take m=0m = 0 and A=X∩UA = X \cap U. This set AA is semianalytic and bounded, and π\pi is the identity, so X∩U=π(A)X \cap U = \pi(A).

The set X={1/k:k=1,2,3,… }⊆ℝX = \set{1/k : k = 1, 2, 3, \dots} \subseteq \R is not subanalytic. A subanalytic set meets each small enough neighbourhood of a point in finitely many connected components. But every neighbourhood of 00 contains infinitely many points of XX, each of them a connected component of the intersection.

The same definition works in a real analytic manifold MM. One replaces ℝm\R^m by another real analytic manifold NN and asks for a relatively compact semianalytic subset AA of M×NM \times N.

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
