Definition
Let be a topological space and let be a continuous map. A set is a wandering set for if for every integer . A point is a wandering point if it has an open neighbourhood that is a wandering set.
Remarks
If is a homeomorphism, the images , , of a wandering set are pairwise disjoint. The set of wandering points is open. In measurable dynamics, let be a measurable map of a measure space . A measurable set of positive measure is called wandering when the sets , , are pairwise disjoint. Example: for on , the set has , which is disjoint from for ; so every point of is wandering. Non-example: for on , any open interval containing satisfies for all , so is not wandering and is not a wandering point.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
