Ambiguity function
Builds on Lp spaceShort-time Fourier transform
Definition
Let (see Lp space). The ambiguity function of is the function , for a time shift and a frequency shift .
Remarks
The substitution gives , where is the short-time Fourier transform of with window . Hence , by the Cauchy–Schwarz inequality. In radar texts the ambiguity function is often written as . It differs from by a sign convention and a phase factor, and for .
Example: let . Then , and the Fourier transform of is . So , a single peak of height at the origin.
Non-example: the autocorrelation is not the ambiguity function. The substitution shows , so is only the slice of and does not see frequency shifts.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
