Short-time Fourier transform

Summary

The short-time Fourier transform of a function ff on ℝ\R is a Fourier transform taken through a window. One multiplies ff by a window gg shifted to a point xx, and transforms the product. It is a function of position xx and frequency ω\omega, and so it shows which frequencies are present near each time. It is the basic tool of time–frequency analysis; its squared modulus is the spectrogram. For a window in L2L^2 it is an isometry up to the factor ∥g∥2\norm{g}_2, so no information is lost.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
