Definition
Let be the space of entire functions with where is Lebesgue measure on . It is a Hilbert space, the Segal–Bargmann space. The Bargmann transform of , the space, is the function
Remarks
For fixed the kernel is a Gaussian in , so it lies in , and the integral converges by the Cauchy–Schwarz inequality. The function is entire, and is a unitary operator from onto . The monomials form an orthonormal basis of , and maps the normalized Hermite function to . Conventions differ: some authors use the weight or and rescale the kernel accordingly.
Example: . Then . The constant has norm , equal to .
Non-example: the function is entire but not in . On the real axis , and the integral of over a neighbourhood of the real axis diverges, so is not a Bargmann transform.
