Example
Let be a finite alphabet and let be a probability vector, with and . Let be the set of two-sided sequences , with the σ-algebra generated by the cylinder sets Let be the infinite product measure of copies of , so . The shift , , is the Bernoulli scheme or Bernoulli shift .
Check that is a measure-preserving transformation: means for . So , which has the same measure . Cylinder sets form a π-system generating the σ-algebra, so for every measurable .
The coordinate functions form an i.i.d. sequence with law , a two-sided version of the Bernoulli process when . The shift is invertible, mixing, and a Kolmogorov automorphism. Its Kolmogorov–Sinai entropy is , computed with the generating partition into the sets . The one-sided version uses instead of and gives a non-invertible measure-preserving map.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
