Bessel potential

Summary

The Bessel potential of order α>0\alpha > 0 is the operator (I−Δ)−α/2(I - \Delta)^{-\alpha/2} on functions on ℝn\R^n, where Δ\Delta is the Laplacian. It is a convolution with a positive integrable kernel GαG_\alpha. Near the origin GαG_\alpha behaves like the kernel of the Riesz potential. It decays exponentially at infinity, which removes the problems of the Riesz potential at large scales. The images of LpL^p under Bessel potentials are the Bessel potential spaces, which give Sobolev spaces of fractional order.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
