Carleman matrix

Summary

The Carleman matrix of a formal power series ff is the infinite matrix whose row jj lists the coefficients of the jj-th power f(x)jf(x)^j. It turns composition of power series into matrix multiplication. If gg has no constant term, the matrix of f∘gf \circ g is the product of the matrices of ff and gg. So, when ff has no constant term, the iterates of ff correspond to powers of a matrix. This gives a linear-algebra approach to iteration and to fractional iteration.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
