Equilibrium measure

Summary

The equilibrium measure of a compact set KK is the way a unit charge distributes itself on KK when it minimizes its energy. In the plane the energy is the logarithmic energy, and in ℝn\R^n with n≥3n \ge 3 it is the Newtonian energy. When KK has positive capacity, the minimizing measure exists and is unique. Its potential is constant on most of KK, and this constant determines the capacity of the set.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
