Fractional integration

Summary

Fractional integration on ℝn\R^n is the operator IαI_\alpha, for 0<α<n0 < \alpha < n, that convolves a function with the kernel ∣x∣α−n\abs{x}^{\alpha - n}, suitably normalized. It is also called the Riesz potential. On the Fourier transform side it multiplies by a constant times ∣ξ∣−α\abs{\xi}^{-\alpha}, so it is the inverse of the fractional Laplacian (−Δ)α/2(-\Delta)^{\alpha/2}. It is the Euclidean analogue of the Riemann–Liouville integral, and it is the main tool behind the Hardy–Littlewood–Sobolev and Sobolev inequalities.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
