Haar system

Summary

The Haar system is an orthonormal basis of L2([0,1])L^2([0, 1]). It consists of the constant function 11 and the rescaled, shifted copies of one step function. This step function is 11 on the left half and −1-1 on the right half of [0,1)[0, 1). Alfréd Haar introduced it in 1910, as an orthonormal system in which every continuous function has a uniformly convergent expansion. It is the simplest example of a wavelet basis, and it is a Schauder basis of Lp([0,1])L^p([0, 1]) for 1≤p<∞1 \le p < \infty.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
