Example
The Haar wavelet is the function with It is an orthonormal wavelet: the functions , , form an orthonormal basis of .
Check of orthonormality. is supported on the dyadic interval and . Two dyadic intervals are either disjoint or nested. If they are disjoint, the product is . If lies strictly inside , then it lies inside one half of , where is constant, and has integral .
Completeness comes from the Haar multiresolution analysis, whose space consists of the functions in that are constant on the intervals . The scaling function is , with and . On , the constant together with the with and is the Haar system.
The Haar wavelet has exactly one vanishing moment: , while . It is discontinuous, so for smooth functions its expansions converge slowly compared with smoother wavelets.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
