Harmonic analysis on Euclidean spaces Wavelets Concept
Scaling function and refinement equation
Summary
The scaling function of a multiresolution analysis is a function whose integer translates form an orthonormal basis of the base space . Since , it satisfies a refinement equation : it is a combination of half-size copies of itself. The coefficients form the low-pass filter of the discrete wavelet transform, and they also determine the wavelet. Conversely, one constructs wavelets such as the Daubechies wavelets by choosing the coefficients first and solving the refinement equation.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
