Hadwiger covering conjecture
Builds on Convex bodyHomothety
Statement
Let , and let be a convex body. Then there are and points with that is, can be covered by smaller homothetic copies of itself. Moreover, copies are needed only when is a parallelotope.
Remarks
The conjecture is open for ; Levi proved the case . The cube shows that cannot be lowered. A translate of with has all side lengths below , so it contains at most one of the vertices. General upper bounds of exponential order, about times a polynomial factor in , are known. Boltyanski showed that the conjecture is equivalent to a statement about illuminating the boundary of by directions.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
