Integral transforms of tempered distributions

Summary

Many integral transforms extend from functions to tempered distributions by duality. One moves the transform onto the Schwartz test functions. The transform TuTu of a distribution uu acts on a test function φ\varphi as uu acts on TtφT^t\varphi. Here TtT^t is the transform with the transposed kernel. This works when TtT^t maps the Schwartz space continuously into itself. The model case is the Fourier transform of tempered distributions; the Laplace transform of distributions uses a related construction.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
