Integral transforms, operational calculus Definition
Kontorovich–Lebedev transform
Definition
For and let be the modified Bessel function of the second kind of order . Let be measurable with . The Kontorovich–Lebedev transform of is the function given by the Lebesgue integral
Remarks
The integral converges absolutely because . The function is real and even in , so is even and is usually considered on . Under suitable conditions on , the inversion formula is
Example: . Since behaves like near and like at infinity, is integrable and the condition holds. The formula for , with , gives .
Non-example: . For fixed , as , so and the integral diverges at infinity.
