Modified Bessel functions

Summary

The modified Bessel functions IνI_\nu and KνK_\nu solve the modified Bessel equation z2y′′+zy′−(z2+ν2)y=0z^2 y'' + z y' - (z^2 + \nu^2) y = 0. They are the Bessel functions evaluated on the imaginary axis, made real for real arguments. On the positive real axis IνI_\nu grows like exe^x and KνK_\nu decays like e−xe^{-x}. They appear in heat flow, diffusion and electrostatics in cylindrical geometry.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
