Lauricella hypergeometric series
Definition
Let be an integer, let , and let be complex numbers with every lower parameter outside . Write for the Pochhammer symbol, and for a multi-index write , and . The four Lauricella series are:
- , convergent for ;
- , convergent for for all ;
- , convergent for ;
- , convergent for for all .
Each sum runs over all .
Remarks
For the four series are the Appell series: , , and . Example: for all four series reduce to , with and as needed; the check is a direct comparison of coefficients. Non-example: the point is outside the region of convergence of ; with and the series is , which diverges there. For , with the gamma function, the series has the integral form
