Mellin convolution
Builds on Integrable functionLebesgue integral
Definition
Let be measurable. Let be such that is integrable on . The Mellin convolution of and at is the Lebesgue integral
Remarks
The substitution shows that . Assume that and are both Mellin convergent at . Then is defined at almost every , it is Mellin convergent at , and . The proof is Fubini's theorem and the substitution , which splits the double integral. Example: . The integrand is for and otherwise, which is integrable for each . So for and for . As a check, for . Non-example: on ; the integrand is not integrable on , so is defined at no . Some authors use the other normalization , whose Mellin transform is .
