Normal vector
Builds on PlaneLineVectors are perpendicular if and only if their dot product is zero
Definition
Let be a line in or a plane in . Let be the dot product. A normal vector of is a nonzero vector such that for all points and of .
Remarks
If is a normal vector of , then the normal vectors of are exactly the vectors with . The plane with has the normal vector . The line with has the normal vector . For the plane , the cross product is a normal vector. A unit normal vector is a normal vector of length 1.
