Definition
Let be a finite partially ordered set, and let be the real vector space of functions . The order polytope of is the set of all such that:
- for all .
- for all with .
Remarks
Clause 2 says that is order-preserving. The vertices of are the indicator functions of the upper sets of . Its volume is , where and is the number of linear extensions. For an integer , the dilate has points with integer coordinates, where is the order polynomial.
Example: for the chain , is the triangle . Check: its vertices , , are the indicators of the upper sets , , , and its area is .
Non-example: the point , satisfies clause 1 but not clause 2, so it is not in .
For an antichain of elements, is the unit cube .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
