p-Laplacian

Summary

The pp-Laplacian is the nonlinear operator Δpu=div⁡(∣∇u∣p−2∇u)\Delta_p u = \operatorname{div}(\abs{\nabla u}^{p-2} \nabla u), for a real number 1<p<∞1 < p < \infty. For p=2p = 2 it is the ordinary Laplacian. It is the Euler–Lagrange operator of the energy ∫∣∇u∣p dx\int \abs{\nabla u}^p \, dx, just as the Laplacian is for ∫∣∇u∣2 dx\int \abs{\nabla u}^2 \, dx. It is the model of a quasilinear elliptic operator that degenerates where ∇u=0\nabla u = 0 for p>2p > 2 and becomes singular there for p<2p < 2.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
