Poincaré's functional equation

Summary

Poincaré's functional equation asks for a function Ψ\Psi with Ψ(λz)=f(Ψ(z))\Psi(\lambda z) = f(\Psi(z)), where ff is a given holomorphic map with a fixed point at 00 and λ=f′(0)\lambda = f'(0). It is the inverse form of Schröder's equation: if Φ\Phi solves Schröder's equation and is invertible, then Ψ=Φ−1\Psi = \Phi^{-1} solves Poincaré's equation. For a repelling fixed point of an entire map, the solution extends to an entire function on all of ℂ\C, the Poincaré function. Poincaré functions parametrise the dynamics of ff near the repelling point and are used to study Julia sets.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
