Reduced function

Summary

Let uu be a positive superharmonic function and EE a set. The reduced function, or réduite, of uu on EE is the lower envelope of all positive superharmonic functions that dominate uu on EE. Its lower semicontinuous regularisation is again superharmonic and equals uu on EE up to a polar set. When uu is the potential of a measure, this regularisation is the potential of the balayage of that measure onto EE. Reduced functions give capacities, harmonic measures and thinness in one framework.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
