Riesz potential operator

Summary

The Riesz potential operator IαI_\alpha of order α\alpha, with 0<α<n0 < \alpha < n, is the integral operator on ℝn\R^n with kernel a constant times ∣x−y∣α−n\abs{x - y}^{\alpha - n}. It is the inverse of the fractional power (−Δ)α/2(-\Delta)^{\alpha/2} of the Laplacian, so it acts as integration of order α\alpha in nn variables. For n=3n = 3 and α=2\alpha = 2 it is the Newtonian potential of physics. Its mapping properties between Lp spaces, given by the Hardy–Littlewood–Sobolev inequality, underlie the Sobolev embedding theorems.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)
