Strichartz estimates in Lorentz space

Builds on Lorentz spaceStrichartz estimateSchrödinger equationFourier transformLp space

Statement

Let d≥1d \ge 1. For f∈L2(ℝd)f \in L^2(\R^d), let eitΔfe^{it\Delta} f be the solution at time tt of the free Schrödinger equation with data ff. It is given by the Fourier transform as eitΔf^(ξ)=e−it∣ξ∣2f^(ξ)\widehat{e^{it\Delta} f}(\xi) = e^{-it\abs{\xi}^2} \hat f(\xi).

Call a pair (q,r)(q, r) admissible if 2≤q≤∞2 \le q \le \infty, 2≤r<∞2 \le r < \infty, (q,r,d)≠(2,∞,2)(q, r, d) \ne (2, \infty, 2) and 2q+dr=d2.\frac{2}{q} + \frac{d}{r} = \frac{d}{2}. For 1≤s≤∞1 \le s \le \infty, let s′s' be the conjugate exponent, with 1s+1s′=1\frac{1}{s} + \frac{1}{s'} = 1. For an interval I⊆ℝI \subseteq \R, let ∥u∥LtqLxr,2(I×ℝd)\norm{u}_{L^q_t L^{r,2}_x(I \times \R^d)} be the LqL^q norm over t∈It \in I of the function t↦∥u(t)∥Lr,2(ℝd)t \mapsto \norm{u(t)}_{L^{r,2}(\R^d)}. Here Lr,2L^{r,2} is the Lorentz space with Lebesgue measure, and LqL^q is a Lebesgue space.

Then the following two estimates hold, where the implied constants depend only on dd and the exponents.

  1. Let (q,r)(q, r) be admissible. Then for all f∈L2(ℝd)f \in L^2(\R^d), ∥eitΔf∥LtqLxr,2(ℝ×ℝd)≲∥f∥L2(ℝd).\norm{e^{it\Delta} f}_{L^q_t L^{r,2}_x(\R \times \R^d)} \lesssim \norm{f}_{L^2(\R^d)}.

  2. Let (q1,r1)(q_1, r_1) and (q2,r2)(q_2, r_2) be admissible. Let I⊆ℝI \subseteq \R be an interval and let t0∈It_0 \in I. Then for all F∈Ltq2′Lxr2′,2(I×ℝd)F \in L^{q_2'}_t L^{r_2',2}_x(I \times \R^d), ∥∫t0tei(t−τ)ΔF(τ) dτ∥Ltq1Lxr1,2(I×ℝd)≲∥F∥Ltq2′Lxr2′,2(I×ℝd).\Big\| \int_{t_0}^t e^{i(t-\tau)\Delta} F(\tau) \, d\tau \Big\|_{L^{q_1}_t L^{r_1,2}_x(I \times \R^d)} \lesssim \norm{F}_{L^{q_2'}_t L^{r_2',2}_x(I \times \R^d)}.

Remarks

The classical Strichartz estimate is the same bound with LrL^r in place of Lr,2L^{r,2}. Since Lr,2L^{r,2} is contained in Lr,r=LrL^{r,r} = L^r for r≥2r \ge 2, the first estimate is stronger than the classical one. The paper allows r=∞r = \infty in its admissible pairs. This node requires r<∞r < \infty, since the linked Lorentz space needs a finite first index.
