Synchronization of chaos
Summary
Synchronization of chaos is the phenomenon in which two or more coupled chaotic systems come to follow the same motion, or related motions. This happens although each of them alone is sensitive to initial conditions. The simplest kind is complete synchronization of identical systems, where the difference of the states tends to zero. Other kinds are phase synchronization and generalized synchronization. The phenomenon was studied by Fujisaka and Yamada in 1983 and made widely known by Pecora and Carroll in 1990. It has applications to the modelling of coupled lasers, neurons and electronic circuits.
