Definition
Let and be measure spaces and let and . Let be an operator that maps each in the Lp space to a measurable function on . The operator is of weak type if there is a constant such that for every and every . One also says that satisfies a weak-type estimate.
Remarks
Equivalently, , where is the quasinorm of the weak Lp space . The operator is of strong type if . By Chebyshev's inequality , strong type implies weak type with the same constant. By convention, weak type means strong type .
Example: let and with Lebesgue measure, and let with . Then , of measure . So is of weak type with , but not of strong type , because when .
Non-example: on the same spaces, with , let . For one has and for . The ratio is unbounded as , so is not of weak type .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
