Definition
The category of posets is the category given by the following data.
- Its objects are the partially ordered sets.
- A morphism from to is a monotone function , that is, implies .
- Composition is the usual composition of functions, and the identity morphism of is the identity map of .
Remarks
The data form a category. The identity map is monotone, and if and are monotone, then gives and then . Associativity and the identity laws hold because they hold for functions. Posets with order-reversing maps do not form a category in the same way: the composite of two order-reversing maps preserves order. A morphism of is an isomorphism exactly when it is an order isomorphism. A monotone bijection need not be one: the identity from a two-element antichain to a two-element chain is a monotone bijection whose inverse is not monotone.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
