Reflexive relation

Builds on Binary relation

Definition

Let RR be a binary relation on a set AA. The relation RR is reflexive when aRaa \mathrel{R} a for each a∈Aa \in A.

Remarks

On ℝ\mathbb{R}, the relation ≤\le is reflexive and the relation << is not. A relation is irreflexive when no element is related to itself. Reflexivity is one of the conditions for an equivalence relation and for a partial order.

What this page needs for W2

  • edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
  • edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
