Topological homogeneity
Definition
A topological space is homogeneous if for all there is a homeomorphism with .
Remarks
Example: every topological group is homogeneous. For , left translation by is a homeomorphism with inverse the translation by , and it sends to . Non-example: the closed interval . A homeomorphism with would restrict to a homeomorphism from , which is connected, onto , which is not connected. In the language of group actions, is homogeneous when its homeomorphism group acts transitively on .
