Uniformly most powerful test
Definition
Let be data whose law depends on , let and be disjoint subsets of , and let . A (possibly randomized) test of against has level if for every . A test is uniformly most powerful (UMP) at level if:
- has level ;
- for every test of level and every , .
Remarks
Here is the power function of . Example: let be i.i.d. , , . The test that rejects when , the quantile of , is UMP at level . For each it is the most powerful test of against , by the Neyman–Pearson lemma, and its power function is increasing. Non-example: for against in the same model, no test satisfies clause 2. The one-sided test above is most powerful against each , but at each the mirror one-sided test has strictly more power.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
