Propagation of uncertainty

Definition
Let be a random vector with mean and covariance matrix . Let be differentiable at , with Jacobian matrix . The linear propagation of uncertainty assigns to the approximate mean and the approximate covariance matrix For and uncorrelated with variances , this reads It is the covariance of the first-order Taylor approximation .
Remarks
Example: for and uncorrelated inputs, and , so , that is when . If is affine, the formula is exact: . Non-example: for and normal with mean and variance , the formula gives , while the true variance of is ; the linearization fails because .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
