Definition
Let and consider the Euclidean space with the Euclidean distance . A similarity transformation of is a bijection for which there is a real number such that The number is the ratio of .
Remarks
A similarity of ratio is an isometry. Every similarity of ratio has the form with in the orthogonal group and . So every similarity is a homothety followed by an isometry, and the similarities of form a group. Similarities preserve angles and ratios of distances.
Example: on is a similarity of ratio . Check: .
Non-example: on is a bijection. It doubles the distance between and but keeps the distance between and , so no single ratio works.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
