Admissibility condition for wavelets

Summary

The admissibility condition asks that a function ψ\psi in L2(ℝ)L^2(\R) have finite constant Cψ=∫∣ψ^(ξ)∣2/∣ξ∣ dξC_\psi = \int \abs{\hat\psi(\xi)}^2 / \abs{\xi} \, d\xi. It makes the continuous wavelet transform with respect to ψ\psi preserve energy up to the factor CψC_\psi. So the transform can be inverted. For integrable ψ\psi it forces ∫ψ=0\int \psi = 0: an admissible function must oscillate.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
