Condenser capacity
Builds on Compact setHarmonic function
Definition
Let , let be an open set, and let be a compact set. The pair is called a condenser. Let be the set of smooth real functions with compact support in . The capacity of the condenser is
Remarks
When is bounded and its boundary and that of are regular, the infimum is attained in a larger class by the potential of the condenser. This is the harmonic function on with on and on .
Example: in let , and . The potential is for , and . Integration over spheres gives . So . In the plane the same computation with gives .
Non-example: if is compact but not contained in , the pair is not a condenser. No can be at least at a point of outside .
Some authors normalize by a constant, such as in or in the plane, or define the capacity with , which makes it invariant under conformal maps.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
