Maclaurin series

Builds on Taylor series

Definition

Let II be an open interval with 0∈I0 \in I, and let f ⁣:I→ℝf \colon I \to \mathbb{R} be smooth. The Maclaurin series of ff is its Taylor series at 00: ∑n=0∞f(n)(0)n!xn.\sum_{n=0}^{\infty} \frac{f^{(n)}(0)}{n!} x^n.

Remarks

For example, the Maclaurin series of exe^x is ∑xn/n!\sum x^n / n!, and the one of 1/(1−x)1/(1 - x) is ∑xn\sum x^n. The series is named after Colin Maclaurin.

What this page needs for W2

  • edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
  • edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
