Newtonian kernel
Builds on Fundamental solution of the LaplacianHarmonic function
Definition
Let . The Newtonian kernel on is the function given by
Remarks
Example: for , ; for and it equals . For fixed , the function is harmonic on , since for . Non-example: on , the function is not the Newtonian kernel; its Laplacian in is , so it is not harmonic off the pole. The kernel is symmetric, , lower semicontinuous, and positive. With the area of the unit sphere of , one has , where is the fundamental solution of the Laplacian. Some authors include this constant in the kernel; the definition above is the usual one in potential theory. In the plane its role is played by the logarithmic kernel .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
