Definition
Let be a point of the upper half-plane. The nome of is ; it satisfies .
For a real modulus , let and be complete elliptic integrals of the first kind, and let . The nome of the modulus is
Remarks
For real the nome is real with , and it increases from to as goes from to . Example: at one has , so and . As , and , so . Non-example: or real gives , which is not a nome, since the theta series in do not converge there. Notation varies: some authors, especially in the theory of modular forms, use instead and call it the nome as well. With the nome defined above, the Jacobi theta function is .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
