Rogers–Ramanujan continued fraction
Builds on Continued fractionUpper half-plane
Definition
Let be in the upper half-plane, let , and let . The Rogers–Ramanujan continued fraction is the limit of the finite continued fractions obtained by stopping after the term , as .
Remarks
Since the limit exists, and Rogers and Ramanujan showed with and , the two sides of the Rogers–Ramanujan identities.
Example: , so . Then . A numerical check: , and the continued fraction is about , whose quotient is about .
Non-example: with numerators instead of , the fraction is , the inverse of the golden ratio, and it does not depend on ; it is not .
Another common notation is in place of .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
