Real functions Proposition

Polynomial functions are continuous

Builds on Continuous functionProduct of continuous functions is continuous

Statement

Let a0,a1,…,ana_0, a_1, \dots, a_n be real numbers. Then the function p ⁣:ℝ→ℝp \colon \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R} given by p(x)=a0+a1x+⋯+anxnp(x) = a_0 + a_1 x + \cdots + a_n x^n is continuous.

Remarks

Constant functions and the identity x↦xx \mapsto x are continuous. Sums and products of continuous functions are continuous, so induction on nn gives the result. Mathlib states it as Polynomial.continuous.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
