Weierstrass product for the gamma function
Builds on Reciprocal gamma functionEuler–Mascheroni constantInfinite product
Statement
Let be the reciprocal gamma function and let be the Euler–Mascheroni constant. For every , The infinite product converges absolutely and uniformly on every compact subset of .
Remarks
Each factor is , and gives the convergence. The partial product up to equals , where is the harmonic number. Since , this is the reciprocal of the quotient in the Euler–Gauss limit formula times a factor tending to , which proves the identity. The product exhibits the simple zeros of at ; it is the Weierstrass factorization of this entire function of order . Multiplying the products for and and using Euler's sine product gives , a form of the reflection formula.

For a student
Taking the logarithmic derivative of the product gives the series for the digamma function. Differentiating once more gives on , so is convex there. The product also yields the Taylor expansion of around , whose coefficients are values of the Riemann zeta function at the integers .
