Local maximum
Definition
Let , let , and let . The function has a local maximum at if there is with for all with . It is a strict local maximum if for all such .
Remarks
A global maximum, where for all , is also a local maximum.
A local minimum is defined with . Local maxima and minima are local extrema.
At an interior local extremum, a differentiable function has derivative zero.
Mathlib defines it as IsLocalMax.
