Functions of a complex variable Corollary
Holomorphic functions are infinitely differentiable
Builds on Holomorphic functionHolomorphic functions are analyticPower series are holomorphic in the disc of convergence
Statement
Let be an open set and let be holomorphic on . Then the complex derivative is holomorphic on . Thus, for each , the -th complex derivative exists and is holomorphic on . As a function of two real variables with , has continuous partial derivatives of all orders on .
Remarks
Proof: near each point, is the sum of a power series by holomorphic functions are analytic. A power series can be differentiated term by term, and the result is again a power series. There is no real analogue: is differentiable on , but its derivative is not differentiable at . The formula for the derivatives gives each as a circle integral.
